  • Number of Classes: Springboro Junior High School students take six (6) classes per day. The bell schedule used at the Junior High is the same as that at Springboro Intermediate.

  • Core Class Placement: Students are placed in specific levels of core academic courses - English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies - based on nationally-normed assessment results.

  • Elective Course Selection: Students select electives that equal a combination of 2 periods per school day for the entire year. Elective courses range in course length: (1) one quarter; (2) one semester; (3) 3/4's year; & (4) yearlong.

  • Band/Strings/Choir AND International Languages: If a student plans to take: (1) a Band, Strings, or Choir course for the entire year in 7th and 8th grade; AND (2) an International Language course in junior high, students must take their other elective requirements - (1) Health, (2) Physical Education, and (3) Careers and Consumer Concepts - in 7th grade in order to take the International Language course in 8th grade. In other words, (1) students cannot take two years of Bands, Strings, or Choir AND two years of an International Language course while at the Junior High, as International Language courses must be taken in consecutive years.  The above scenario, allows the student to take an International Language course in 8th grade and continue on at the high school without any gaps.
  • International Language Courses and High School Credit: International Language courses, if taken for the entire year, count towards the student's high school credit and high school Grade Point Average (GPA). The Exploratory International Language courses, offered to 7th grade students only, are quarter-long classes and do NOT count towards high school credit. The quarter-long class is an exploratory class only.
