2019 Washington, D.C. Trip 
 
Springboro's annual eighth grade student trip to Washington, D.C. and Gettysburg is October 22-25, 2019. Springboro district staff chaperone the trip.

Final Cost - 2018 8th Grade Washington, D.C. Trip  
The final cost of the Washington, D.C. trip will be provided to us by the tour company in September of 2019. The final cost will be between $757 - $832. Payments are requested in four different installments - March, April, May, and September. If you need flexibility in making these payment dates, please contact Classic Student Tours.  Payments can be made by sending a check/money order to Classic Student Tours (Springboro Junior High School does not accept payments) or by paying via credit card on their website  http://classicstudenttours.com/ .

Sample Itinerary for the D.C. Trip  

Items to Keep in Mind 
 
Pack the following in a small suitcase for the hotel: Enough clothes for three days, toiletry items and snacks. Suitcases are stored in the luggage compartment beneath the passenger section of the motor coach. They are not accessible to the students until we check into the hotel Wednesday evening. Do not put any items in the suitcase that may be needed before we arrive at the hotel on Wednesday night.

Pack items for the evening travel and the first day in a small carry-on bag to bring on the bus: Change of clothes for day 1, snacks, phone, camera, reading material, toothbrush and toothpaste, etc.
  • Bottles of water with closed tops are allowed on the motor coach.
  • Soft Drinks (or any colored or carbonated beverages), ice cream, and coolers are not permitted on the bus.
  • Electronic devices are only allowed with headphone attachments.
  • Do not wear new shoes!
  • Bring suitable clothing for the weather conditions (dress in layers), including rain.
  • An older, small pillow or blanket will make the ride more comfortable, especially through the night.
  • It is not recommended to bring valuable items.
  • Spending money for snacks souvenirs, etc, should be minimal. Carry money safely on your person at all times!
The tour company is Classic Student Tours, a local agency that specializes in Educational Student Travel Programs. Classic Student Tours has coordinated the Washington, D.C. trip for Springboro Schools since 1995.

Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. A initial deposit of $200.00 ($50.00 of which is non-refundable upon cancellation) and a completed parental permission form are due by Tuesday, March 12 to hold your reservation. Deposits received after one motor coach is filled will be accepted for additional motor coaches, or to form a waiting list for replacement of canceled reservations. A second payment of $200.00 will be due on Friday, April 12. A third payment of $200.00 will be due Friday, May 10. The final balance, which will be determined by the number of students per motor coach, will be due Friday, September 6, 2019.  An invoice for payment  will not be provided to parents/guardians from the Classic Student Tours. Announcements to students regarding payments will be made at school and conveyed to parents in the Junior High Principal's Updates. Special payment arrangements can be made upon request to Classic Student Tours. 

On June 1, 2019, all accounts must be current (including payment arrangements made through the tour company), or participants will be removed from the trip until accounts are brought current. If a participant is removed from the trip due to a delinquent account, the participant will be placed on a waiting list until the account is brought current. Seat availability is not guaranteed, as the student's spot will be filled with a student from the waiting list, if one exists. Additionally, all refund policies are in effect.

Classic Student Tours accepts credit card (Mastercard, Visa, and Discover) payments on their website    http://classicstudenttours.com/ .  Checks can be made payable to Classic Student Tours. Be sure to write the student's name on the face of all checks to insure proper credit. Please fill out checks with black ink only. 

Checks can be mailed to Classic Student Tours, 75 Rhoads Center Dr., Centerville, OH 45458. Students should not submit checks to Springboro Junior High or its teachers.

Refund Policy: All money will be fully refunded if Classic Student Tours terminates the tour for any reason, except for default of payment. A student/paying participant canceled from the tour for any reason will be charged a minimum of fifty dollars ($50.00) against monies paid toward that trip. In addition, any non-refundable deposits/payments made by Classic Student Tours for trip costs will also be deducted from any payments made. Checks not honored by client's bank due to insufficient funds, closed accounts, etc. will incur a $25.00 bank and processing fee. A $25.00 cancellation processing fee will be charged per participant if the group cancels the tour.

Responsibility:
Classic Student Tours acts only as the agent for the tour participants in arranging transportation, lodging, meals, sightseeing, admissions, etc. Classic Student Tours, the Springboro Community City School District, or their employees assume no responsibility for personal injury or illness, property damage, loss, delay or irregularity of transportation, lodging, restaurants, sights, attractions, weather conditions, acts of God, etc. In the event of a claim, Classic Student Tours' liability shall be limited to the amount paid by the client for the tour package. Classic Student Tours is not liable for the responsibilities or default of transportation carriers, hotels, restaurants, attractions, etc. Classic Student Tours reserves the right to provide substitutes of comparable value when conditions warrant an adjustment in contracted tour features. Classic Student Tours and its employees reserve the right to make special arrangements for participants unwilling to abide by tour policies, at the participant's expense.
 
 
 
New Washington, D.C. Trip Information as of October 4, 2018: 
Below are links that provide the itinerary for each bus wave departing Springboro Junior High School on October 23, 2018. Departure times for each of the three bus waves are, respectively, 9:30 p.m., 10:00 p.m., 10:30 p.m. Students will be provided information as to what bus wave they will be part of on the morning of October 23 at the beginning of the school day. Students will return to Springboro Junior High School on Friday night, October 26. Tentative arrival times are 9:30 p.m. (Wave 1), 10:35 p.m. (Wave 2), and 11:20 p.m. (Wave 3). These arrival times could change based on traffic conditions. Students are allowed to communicate with parents/guardian via their technological device, including their cell phone, to give parents/guardians updated information regarding their actual arrival time.
