Mr. Michael Kruse, Board President

 

Mike KruseMr. Michael Kruse and his wife Susan have been married for 26 years and have two children. Elizabeth, a 2003 graduate of Springboro Schools and son David, a 2009 graduate of Springboro High School. Mr Kruse completed his college education at Xavier University and then served 4 years in the US Army as a Military Policeman. He has 30 years in the US Postal Service, the past 9 years serving as Springboro's Postmaster. Mr Kruse is a 15 year resident of Springboro and has been actively involved in community and school organizations. He has been associated with the Springboro Rotary, Springboro Chamber of Commerce, Superintendent's Business Advisory Council, Financial Advisory Council, and Strategic Planning Committee. Mr Kruse also served on the Warren County Pre-Professional Advisory Board at the Warren County Career Center. "I am proud to serve the community on the Board and look forward to assisting the staff in their challenge of maintaining excellent schools for our children."

Mr. Don Miller, Board Member

 

Don Miller

Mr. Don Miller, a Civilian Financial Manager for the Air Force Research Laboratory and Air Force Reservist for the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC), separated from active duty in 2004 after eight years of service. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from St. Leo University and is currently pursuing an MBA at Wright State University. In 2003, Don and his wife Melissa chose to make Springboro their permanent home so their school age children, Shae and Storm McGuire and Mason Miller, could benefit from the excellent schools and close knit community. His father was a teacher for the Massillon City School District for 35 years and his mother is currently employed by that District. Due to his upbringing and desire to contribute to his own community's education system, Don has been active in the Springboro Schools bond and levy campaigns and Strategic Planning Committee as well as various youth sports programs.

Mr. Scott Anderson, Board Member

 

Scott AndersonMr. Anderson graduated from Bowling Green State University and manages a local Bank in Springboro. He has been married to his wife Candy for 22 years and has two children, Scott and Madison. Scott attends The Ohio State University and Madison attends the Junior High. Mr. Anderson has been deeply involved in the Springboro Community. His previous contributions include being a member of Springboro City Council where he was a member of the Finance and Park Board Committees. He has also served as a Board Member for the Springboro Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement and Miami Valley Communications Council.

Mrs. Kelly Kohls, Board Member

 

Kelly KohlsMrs. Kelly Kohls is a professional nutritionist with expertise in research and dietary management. Kelly has five children currently enrolled in the Springboro Community City School system. She has been married to her husband Tom for 26 years. Kelly received her Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. For the last quarter century she has taught at various institutions, including the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Miami University, and she is currently an adjunct instructor at the Art Institute of Ohio in Cincinnati. For 15 of those years, Kelly concurrently operated a private nutrition practice. Kelly manages a family of seven and gives back to the community with many varied volunteer activities. Kelly is committed to ensuring that the children of the Springboro community receive an excellent education, while keeping the costs of that education affordable by carefully adhering to responsible spending.

Mrs. Gentry Ellis, Board Member

 

Gentry EllisMrs. Gentry Ellis is a stay at home mother to her three children.  Gentry has been active in her PTO, on the district's Communication Committee, and has founded and organized a support group for at home mothers and their children.  Previously, Gentry has worked as a Resource Development Director for the Cedar Valley United Way and a Financial Aid Counselor for the University of Northern Iowa.  Gentry has a Master's Degree in Public Policy with concentration areas in economic development and environmental policy.  Gentry and her family fell in love with Springboro when they moved here 5 years ago due to its small town feel and excellent schools.  Gentry is an avid supporter of public education.  Her son, William, attends the elementary school at Springboro while she has two more children still in the preschool and toddler years at home.  Gentry values public engagement and open communication between community and the schools, lower staff to pupil ratios, volunteerism, and improving technology and supplies in the district which will enable our staff to have the most lasting effect on the quality education of our children.  Gentry is committed to finding and promoting great ways for everyone to work together to make our district the best it can be.
