School Health Services
The focus of Springboro Community School district health services is to assist in keeping the student in school, in class, ready to learn, safe and able to perform age-appropriate self care skills. The school nurse in collaboration with the clinic nurses and principals in each building set in place programs and guidelines to:
- Respond to health issues that act as a barrier to learning by providing interventions, education, and communication with school personnel, students and parent/guardian
- Provide first aid
- Conduct health screenings
- Monitor and/or give medications which allow child to remain in school
- Work with parents and school personnel to keep chronically (i.e. asthma, diabetes) ill students in school and in class with a safe environment conducive to learning
- Continuously reevaluates nursing interventions effectiveness in maximizing student attendance
- Acts as a resource between school and healthcare facilities in the community
- Enables educators to do their job by addressing student health problems that might interfere with learning
