Residency Requirements
Springboro Community City Schools are a non-open enrollment school district. You must reside within the school district boundaries in order to attend school in the district. A student shall be entitled to attend school in this District free of any tuition obligation under the following circumstances:
Building/Buying:
- A. A child, otherwise eligible for attendance, whose parent has signed a contract to buy or build a house in this District and provides proper sworn statements explaining the situation shall be enrolled without payment of tuition for a period not to exceed ninety (90) calendar days. Transportation will be the responsibility of the parents during this ninety (90) day time period. The parent shall provide:
- 1. a notarized statement explaining the situation, the location of the house being purchased or built, and a statement of the parent’s intention to reside there upon its completion; and
- 2. a statement from the builder that the house is being built and its location or a statement from a real estate broker or bank officer confirming that the parent has a contract to purchase, that the parent is waiting upon a closing date, and that the house is at the location identified in the parent’s sworn statement.
- 3. proof of residency must be provided once you have moved into your new residence. Tuition will be charged beginning on the ninety-first (91st) calendar day if proof of residency has not been received. Acceptable proof of residency is the mailing portion of a water, phone, electric, or cable bill, or signed closing papers on the residence. Residency proof must show the name and address of the resident.
- 1. a notarized statement explaining the situation, the location of the house being purchased or built, and a statement of the parent’s intention to reside there upon its completion; and
Living With
- A. A child, otherwise eligible for attendance, whose parent is living with a resident in this District and provides proper sworn statements explaining the situation shall be enrolled. The parent shall provide:
- 1. a notarized statement explaining the situation, the address where they are living, the name and relationship of the person they are residing with, the names and grade levels of the students; and
- 2. a notarized statement from the Springboro School District resident with whom the parent is residing stating that the parent and child(ren) are residing with him/her and the address where they will be living; and
- 3. the Springboro School District resident must provide proof of residency. Acceptable proof of residency is the mailing portion of a water, phone, electric, or cable bill, or signed closing papers/lease agreement on the residence. Residency proof must show the name and address of the resident.
- 1. a notarized statement explaining the situation, the address where they are living, the name and relationship of the person they are residing with, the names and grade levels of the students; and
Custody/Guardianship
- A. The Board may enroll a child free of any tuition obligation for a period not to exceed sixty (60) calendar days, on the notarized statement of an adult resident of the District that s/he has initiated legal proceedings for custody of the child. The district resident shall provide:
- 1. a notarized statement explaining that the district resident has initiated legal proceedings for custody, the names and grade levels of the child(ren), the name and location of the court in which you have filed the petition, the residents address and phone numbers, and;
- 2. a copy of the court date-stamped papers signed by the court’s representative showing that you have initiated legal proceedings for custody and that your case has been accepted by the court.
- 3. the Springboro School District resident must provide proof of residency. Acceptable proof of residency is the mailing portion of a water, phone, electric, or cable bill, or signed closing papers/lease agreement on the residence. Residency proof must show the name and address of the resident.
- 4. within sixty (60) calendar days after your initial affidavit is provided to the school, you must provide a copy of the court papers signed by a judge or magistrate, showing that the case has been processed and that custody has been granted. Failure to provide this documentation in the allowed time period shall result in the withdrawal of the student(s) from school and tuition charges will be applied for the dates the student(s) attended.
