JROTC Flight Academy Scholarship Program

SHS sophomore, Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) cadet Sadie Schindler was chosen as a primary candidate for the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Flight Academy Scholarship Program.  Sophomore cadet Kaleb Priddy was selected as an alternate candidate. This is a $2.4 million dollar program to teach JROTC cadets across the nation how to fly and to receive a private pilot’s license.  The program was open to 120,000 cadets. Over 650 applied for the scholarship. The Air Force selected 120 primary candidates. Cadet Schindler was the only primary candidate from the state of Ohio, while Kaleb Priddy was the only alternate candidate from Ohio.
 
During Summer 2018, Cadet Schindler will attend one of seven designated universities across the US and will train for 7-9 weeks to receive a pilot's license.  Of the 120 selectees, she was 1 of 35 females selected. Further, she was 1 of 12 sophomores selected nationwide.   The Flight Academy Scholarship is worth $20,000 dollars of aviation training.
