As residents in nursing homes around the country are dealing with the effects of being quarantined, Springboro Intermediate (SI) students in Mr. Bettinger's class were given an optional assignment that would benefit a large number of people going through a difficult time.

The students wrote letters to nursing home residents at Grande Lake Healthcare Center in St. Marys, OH. The students wrote about themselves and the things they like to do in their free time, while also asking the residents about their interests. Students would then end the letter with a joke or riddle.
Pictured here is a Grande Lake Healthcare Center staff member sharing one of the letters with Helen, a resident, in addition to some of the letters written by students. All the residents and staff members from Grande Lake enjoyed these very much!
Plans are already in the works to reach out to nursing homes around the Springboro area, in order to continue to this uplifting project.
