Mr. Korzan's Conceptual Chemistry Students Experiment

SHS Chemistry Student

The conceptual chemistry students, in Mr. Korzan's class at Springboro High School, have been learning about classifying matter and looking at chemical reactions and physical reactions. This lab required them to build a structure that would hold a hollow, clear tube. Once the structure was built, they went to a dark room and poured two chemicals into the tubes using a funnel. The two chemicals were hydrogen peroxide and luminol. When these two chemicals react, they create a glow that lasts for a few seconds, revealing the nature of the design of the tube as the liquids flow through them. The activity was a great way to investigate some of the properties of chemical reactions.
