Holly Jolly Helpers Collect Hats/Gloves to Help Local Families

Hats/Gloves Fundraiser

As a special way of celebrating the holidays, Five Points Elementary sponsored a hat/glove drive to help children and families locally, and around the world in need.

All Five Points Elementary students, “Holly Jolly Helpers,” were asked to practice their monthly character education word, Generosity, by working together to provide basic necessities for those in need. Staff wanted the students to have an active part in the hat/glove drive so Five Points asked them to show their generosity at home by helping out and doing extra chores to earn money to purchase hats or gloves for people of all ages.

To add a little fun to the service project, a few staff members volunteered to participate in the first annual “Save it” or “Shave it” contest. The participants grew a beard for the the contest. Depending on which bin collects the most hats/gloves determined whether or not the volunteers had to "Save It" or "Shave It."

In total, Five Points collected 1,051 items (hats and gloves). There were 188 items in the "Save It" bin and 863 in the "Shave It."
