Racing Fuel Cell Powered Cars

SHS PLTW Students

Over the last two (2) weeks, Springboro High School students in Mr. Broderick’s Principle of Engineering Class (Project Lead The Way - PLTW) have been trying to get the most speed out of a little power. The challenge was to use two Hydrogen Fuel Cells to help power their car fifteen (15) feet. Mr. Broderick’s students have been testing different gear ratios and setups, in order to put it all to the test in a dramatic race inside the SHS Auxiliary Gym. While the fuel cells do not produce a lot of power, it is a great introduction to green technologies.
