Mock Trial

After finishing the classic novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, students in 7th grade enriched Language Arts put greaser Johnny Cade on trial for murder. The defense and prosecution were tasked with proving whether Johnny acted in self-defense or committed 2nd degree murder in the death of Bob Sheldon, a soc whose buddies attempted to drown Johnny's friend Ponyboy. Jury decisions were split two for and two against in four trials this week. Special thanks to Judge Jeffrey T. Kirby who presided over two of those trials. All students did a fantastic job!
