SHS JROTC Cadet Earns Private Pilot's License
Sadie Schindler at Liberty University

Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Cadet, Sadie Schindler, a junior at Springboro High School, recently completed an eight (8) week residence program this summer at Liberty University (Lynchburg, VA) for her private pilot’s license. Sadie began this course shortly after school let out in May, and her official graduation from Liberty University’s residence program will be held on Friday, July 20th.

Lt. Col. Todd Berrier, a Springboro High School Junior ROTC Instructor, said, "We are very proud of Sadie for this amazing accomplishment.  To get a private pilot's license through the Air Force's first-ever JROTC scholarship program is truly a unique opportunity, and I'm glad a Springboro High School student was selected for this prestigious program.  I look forward to Sadie's leadership in the cadet corps during her junior and senior year at Springboro High School.”

This past January, Sadie was one of one hundred and twenty (120) cadets selected nationwide from six hundred and fifty (650) applicants, for the first annual Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force Flight Academy Scholarship, which was worth $20,000. Sadie was the only student selected from the state of Ohio for this achievement. Furthermore, Sadie was one of only thirty five (35) females selected for this prestigious honor, as well as being one of only twelve (12) sophomores, at the time, selected for the program.
