Springboro
High School, of the Springboro Community City School District, has been ranked
fifty-fourth (#54) by the U.S. News & World Report on their 2018 Best Ohio
High School Rankings. In the State of Ohio, eight hundred and twenty two (822)
total high schools were ranked.
Students at Springboro High School have the opportunity to take twenty eight (28) different Advanced Placement® (AP) courses and exams. The AP® participation rate at Springboro High School is nearly fifty percent (50%). During the 2017-2018 school year, Springboro High School had a graduation rate above ninety six percent (96%), including four hundred and eighty three (483) graduates who earned more than $7m in scholarships, along with four (4) students who achieved the honor of National Merit Scholars.

The U.S.
News and World Report ranking of fifty fourth (#54) for Springboro High School
is one that has been on the rise. In 2016, the U.S. News and World Report
ranking had Springboro High School listed as sixty first (#61), and just
several years ago in 2015, Springboro High School was ranked ninety fourth (#94).
Springboro High School Principal Kyle Martin said, “Our students and staff continue to meet the high expectations set forth by Springboro Schools. Challenging our students with rigorous courses and innovation, which enhances the level of student learning, has been a priority over the years. Stretching students academically, while focusing on
educating the whole child, is very important to all students and their future. As you can see from the last three years of data, we have made great strides, and we will continue to grow.”
To produce the 2018 Best High Schools rankings,
U.S. News & World Report teamed with North Carolina-based RTI International, a global nonprofit social science research
firm.
RTI implemented the U.S. News comprehensive rankings
methodology, which is based on the following key principles: that a great high
school must serve all of its students well, not just those who are college
bound, and that it must be able to produce measurable academic outcomes to show
it is successfully educating its student body across a range of performance
indicators.
A four-step
process determined the Best High Schools. The first three steps ensured
that the schools serve all of their students well, using their performance on
the math and reading parts of their state proficiency tests and their
graduation rates as the benchmarks. For those schools that made it past
the first three steps, a fourth step assessed the degree to which
schools prepare students for college-level work.
