World Affairs Councils of America Awards SHS Student With Study Tour to Qatar
Ethan Andes

The World Affairs Councils of America (WACA) recently announced its grand prize in the Carlos and Malu Alvarez 2018-2019 Academic WorldQuest National Competition.

As part of the competition, high school students across the country were challenged to submit an 800-word Memorandum or a 5-minute video to "Advise the Secretary of State: Measures to Strengthen the US-Qatar Strategic Partnership."

Ethan Andes, a Springboro High School Junior, was one (1) of ten (10) students across the country to be selected as a WACA Qatar Essay/Video Contest Winner. As a result, Ethan has been awarded with an all-expenses-paid Doha Study Tour in June 2019. Contest winners will also be eligible for scholarships to attend the WACA 2019 National Conference in Washington, DC in November 2019.

Ethan was the only person, out of seventy-nine (79) students who submitted a video. Everyone else submitted an essay.

A panel of educators and experts in student exchange programs served as judges for all the entries. The ten (10) high school student winners will be joined by the 4-member champion team of the Carlos and maul Alvarez 2018-2019 Academic WorldQuest National Competition.
