Board Approves Amended Contract for Carrie Hester

Springboro Schools is proud to announce that Carrie Hester will remain Interim Superintendent of Springboro Schools through July 2021. At their January 7th meeting, the Board of Education unanimously approved the amended contract for Carrie Hester as Interim Superintendent effective August 16, 2019 thru July 31, 2021. In addition, the Board of Education also voted on the approval of a 3-year contract for Carrie Hester as Executive Director of Human Resources effective August 1, 2021.

“I am honored to be able to lead Springboro Schools, and look to continue providing the necessary leadership and oversight so that each student, parent, employee, and community member contributes to the academic and social growth of our students,” said Carrie Hester.

Hester, who joined Springboro Schools in March 2018 as the district’s Director of Human Resources before transitioning to Assistant Superintendent of Operations, began serving as Interim Superintendent in August 2019. With the approved amended contract, Hester will remain as the district’s Interim Superintendent through the 2019-2020 school year, as well as the 2020-2021 school year. The Board of Education will determine if the Superintendent position will be open for search during the latter part of the 2020-2021 school year. Effective August 2021, in the event a search for the Superintendent position is conducted, Carrie Hester will begin a 3-year contract as Executive Director of Human Resources.

“Ms. Hester has excelled in her role as Interim Superintendent,” said Board President Jamie Belanger, who was re-elected as Board President at the January 7th meeting. “Stability is important, and we feel Ms. Hester provides the strength and knowledge required to continue our focus on providing Springboro students with an excellent education.”   

Hester joined Springboro Schools from the Hamilton City School District, where she was the Associate Director of Human Resources. Hamilton City School District has a student enrollment of nearly 10,000 and employs over 1,200 certified and classified staff. There, Hester lead the recruitment, on-boarding, contracts, and professional growth, while also working in conjunction with the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.

Before joining Hamilton City School District, Hester served as an Intervention Specialist in Northwest Local Schools at both Northwest High School and Colerain Middle School. She also has experience as a Special Education Department Chair and Gifted Testing Evaluator.

Hester received her Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Wright State University and her Masters of Education in Administration from Xavier University.  She holds credentials including a Superintendent License, certifications in the areas of School Business Manager, Human Capital Leaders in Education Professional (pHCLE), K-12 Principal License, and Intervention Specialist K-12.

Finally, she is a member of Ohio's Superintendent Association (BASA), the Ohio Association School Business Officials (OASBO), the American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA), the Ohio Association of School Personnel Administrators (OASPA) and the Southwest Ohio Personnel Administrators (SWOPA).
