Health Class Writing Assignment: Due Thursday, 1/26th. Short Essay:
In 5 paragraph form, write an essay that's NO LONGER THAN ONE SIDE OF ONE PAGE about a lifestyle disease or condition you feel you are most at risk for in your life, either now or in the future.
1. Identify the lifestyle-related disease/condition you could be at risk for. 2. Discuss one or more risk factors (environment, heredity, or lifestyle choices you are making) that may contribute to the disease/condition. 3. Identify environmental or lifestyle changes you can make to reduce your risk for developing the disease/condition.
(Hint: If you are having a difficult time choosing a lifestyle disease or condition you may be at risk for then take a look at #'s 1-25 on the bottom of the warm-up exercise you completed on Tuesday, August 30th. Each item you have checked is a lifestyle disease or condition. You may also choose one that's not on that list)
Reminder: An example of a lifestyle-related disease is cancer, stroke, alcoholism, etc. An example of a lifestyle-related condition is car accident, concussion, pregnancy, etc.

Friday, March 2nd Review conflict management and “Givin’ It” Assignment#1: Write a paragraph describing a situation you have been in with another person that would be described as a conflict. What happened, how did you handle it? What was the outcome? Would you say your approach to the conflict was passive, aggressive, or assertive? Assignment#2: Using the five steps of “Givin’ It”, create a dialogue that demonstrates your use of “Givin’ It” as you revisit the situation you wrote about in the paragraph about a conflict you’ve experienced. You will receive bonus on Monday if you come to class with two copies of the dialogue you’ve written (the copy may be handwritten, photocopied, or printed out)
Monday, March 5th Using the dialogue you’ve written for today, partner up with a classmate and practice using the 5 steps of Givin’It on your partner. You will read the parts for the person doing the confrontation while your partner reads the parts of the person you’re confronting in the conflict situation. Partners will demonstrate their use of the 5 steps of Givin’ It for the class.
