B. threatening

The emotional response is either:

A. anxiety if the stimulus was interpreted to be demanding

B. fear is the stimulus was interpreted to be threatening

The body releases chemical/hormones in an amount relative to the intensity of the emotion:

Adrenaline released by the adrenal glands to create a surge of energy

Cortisone is released by the adrenal glands to combat swelling/inflammation

Endorphins are released by the brain to block pain

Increase in heart rate, muscle tension, breathing, alertness

The person now has the capacity to either:

Fight (face the stimulus head on)

-or-

Flight (flee from the stimulus)

The outcome should enable the person to:

B. perform a task in the case of a demand
