Construction Project Updates

Construction Project Updates

Since the district’s bond levy was passed in November 2025, several steps have been taken to start the exciting process of moving forward with the various construction projects and upgrades the levy will fund.

The $115 million bond is separate from operating and permanent improvement funding and cannot be used on things like salaries and benefits, textbooks, or instructional supplies. It will allow the district to:

  • build a new PK-2 school on the Easton Farm site

  • construct a new multi-use sports complex on the main campus next to the high school

  • add classrooms and upgrade the cafeteria/kitchen at the junior high

  • complete various other district wide upgrades

Project Partners

The district is working with the architecture firm SHP on these projects. In December 2025, after a RFQ process, the Board of Education approved HGC as the construction firm for three of the four main projects. HGC will work with the district and SHP to oversee work for the sports complex, the junior high projects, and the district wide upgrades.

PK-2 Building

Construction of the PK-2 building will be a separate project. The district will work with SHP to design the new school. A construction firm will be selected at a later date through a bidding process once design is completed.

What Is Happening Now?
Since the bond levy was passed, the district's executive team has met multiple times with SHP and HGC to begin the initial preparation necessary to ensure projects meet the district’s needs and budget. As plans progress, additional stakeholders, including various staff members and parents, will be involved.

What Happens Next?
The sports complex and traffic/road improvements will be the first projects addressed. Once surveys, permits, and design plans are completed and approved, the first physical construction of these projects is expected to begin in mid-to-late summer 2026.

The PK-2 building is expected to open for the 2029-30 school year, with the design phase projected to take approximately 14 months.

July 2026 Construction Updates

PK-2 School

After dozens of meetings to gain input from various stakeholders, including many Clearcreek staff members, design work is on schedule for the new PK-2 school, with the first of three design phases now nearly complete. Construction is expected to begin mid-2027 with the building scheduled to open ahead of the 2029-30 school year.

  • The new school will sit on 20 acres at the old Easton Farm site.

  • The new school will be two stories tall and approximately 165,000 square feet. Because of its size, developing a design that will make it feel smaller for the district's youngest learners is a main priority. This includes shaping the school into individual classrooms, as well as smaller “houses” and “neighborhoods.” (See link to additional renderings below for a more detailed look at the suggested organizational layout.)

  • The current design allows for separate drop off for preschool students.

  • SHP is working to incorporate outdoor learning opportunities throughout the campus.

  • The Community Advisory Team (CAT), which is made up of staff, parents, school board members, and community members, will meet in August to discuss naming options for the new school.

  • Renderings are not final and will continue to undergo updates and changes in the coming months.

Multi-Purpose Athletic Complex

Design work on the new multi-purpose athletic complex across from the high school is also on schedule. The districts expect to break ground in the fall of 2026, with estimated completion in late summer 2027, in time for fall sports use.

  • The complex will hold approximately 1,500 fans.

  • It will include a field primarily designed for our soccer and lacrosse teams (though not exclusive to them), a team lounge, two home and two away locker rooms, coaches’ offices, a ticket office, a concession stand, restrooms, and approximately 80 parking spaces.

  • One recent change to the complex is the addition of six tennis courts. This will allow the district to move the current tennis courts, which consistently deal with surfacing issues and errant foul balls from the baseball field.

  • The complex has not been officially named yet. In the architect renderings, it is currently being referred to as “Springboro Stadium.”

  • Renderings of the athletic complex may undergo some updates, but major changes are not expected.

Junior High Additions/Updates

Both the interior updates as well as the classroom and kitchen addition at the junior high are on schedule. Construction is set to begin in the fall of 2026 with work expected to be completed by the end of summer 2027.

  • The first phase of construction will begin in the fall of 2026 with the addition of six classrooms on the northwest end of the school.

  • Construction of additional kitchen storage space, as well as upgrades to kitchen equipment, will begin in the spring of 2027. Serving lines will also be updated to allow for new menu items and better flow/efficiency.

  • When school is out next year (summer 2027), the following projects will take place:

    • All student lockers will be replaced and student restrooms will be updated.

    • Old restrooms next to the music classrooms and locker rooms will be renovated into music and athletic storage spaces.

    • PE locker rooms will be renovated to include new lockers and ADA accessible lockers.

    • Locker room restrooms will be updated.

Weidner Road Connector

Before the bond was passed in November, the district committed to exploring the option of creating an additional access point to its main campus along Weidner Road.

A potential design plan is being reviewed, but many factors are still being considered. No decisions about adding a connector have been made at this time.

Dennis Elementary Parking

Twenty additional parking spaces were created in front of Dennis Elementary over the summer of 2026 to allow the school to accommodate more visitors.

October 2026 Construction Updates

Multi-Purpose Athletic Complex

In mid-late October, construction crews will be on site to begin work on the new athletic complex located next to the high school. Fencing the area began around October 8.

  • An official groundbreaking for the complex, as well as the junior high school addition, is taking place at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 16.

  • Since the last construction update in July, the district’s architecture firm, SHP, has provided new renderings of the complex, which will be home to the high school’s boys and girls soccer, lacrosse, and tennis teams. This new fly through video provides a birds-eye view of the complex from all angles.

  • This project remains on track to be completed by the end of the summer of 2027 so that it can be used for fall sports during the 2027-28 school year.

  • The board approved a GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price) contract with the construction firm HGC stating that the complex will not exceed $10.6 million.

Springboro Junior High Addition and Renovations

Construction is also about to begin on the six-classroom addition at the junior high. Fencing began being installed in early October.

  • Phase one of work involves the addition of two science classrooms and four general education classrooms on the northwest side of the school.

  • Phase two involves replacing lockers, updating restrooms, and renovating and adding on to the kitchen area. This phase will not begin until school ends in the spring.

  • Both phases are expected to be completed by the time school starts next year.

  • Construction should not impact travel around the junior high and roads will remain open.

  • The board approved a GMP contract with HGC for the classroom addition which caps the cost for the district at just over $4 million.

  • The junior high renovation costs (phase two) are still being determined.

PK-2 School

Design work for the new PK-2 school is now approximately 40% complete.

  • Construction is still slated to begin in the spring of 2027.

  • The district is in the process of selecting a name for the new school, and encourages your input. Please submit your feedback so that all options can be considered before a decision is made by the start of December.

  • Since the July construction update, the PK-2 school renderings have been revised to create a more open entryway that includes several arches. These were included in the design as a tribute to the original Springboro school building.

  • Since July, the preK floorplan was also updated based on feedback from teachers.

  • The school is currently estimated at $66 million.

Dennis and Five Points Playgrounds

The design process is underway on new playgrounds that will be installed at both Dennis and Five Points in the summer of 2027.

  • The district's architects at SHP have facilitated meetings with students, staff, and parents to get input about what the playgrounds should include.

  • The designs are expected to be finalized during the winter of 2026, with the new playgrounds opening to students at the start of the 2027-28 school year.

  • The school’s playgrounds are not expected to be identical, but will be developed based on feedback from their individual stakeholder groups.

  • Each playground is budgeted to cost $1.5 million.

Transportation and Maintenance Facility

A new transportation and maintenance facility is being designed to replace the current trailer these departments utilize.

  • Construction is expected to start in the late spring of 2027 and be completed in the winter of 2027.

  • This will be a 5,000 square foot pre-engineered metal building. The current transportation mechanics garage will remain in place.

  • The new facility will be constructed on the site of the current trailer.

Weidner Road

The district continues to consider the possibility of adding a road onto its main campus that would connect to Weidner Road.

  • The civil engineers working on behalf of the district are working with county engineers to understand what would be required if the district moves forward with the road.

  • No decision has been made at this time.

Energy Improvements

The board recently approved a contract for Energy Optimizers to perform work on district facilities.

  • Most of this work involves the lighting capabilities in district buildings.

  • New LED lighting will be installed giving teachers/staff more control over the lighting in different zones of their classrooms/workspaces.

  • Additional mechanical and electrical energy improvements are currently in the design phase.
