Home Instruction

Students are expected to attend school to the fullest extent possible, but home instruction may be provided to students who have a medical or mental/emotional condition preventing them from participating in classroom instruction because they are confined to home or a healthcare facility.

Your student’s school counselor, in consultation with the building administration and the coordinator of instructional supports, determines eligibility for home instruction based on local board policy. Approval of students for home instruction requires medical documentation submitted by an approved medical professional and information provided by the school staff, family, and student. Approval for home instruction is developed as a result of a joint decision by the school and guardians.

Home instruction is not intended to replace instruction and is, by design, temporary. The goal of home instruction is to keep the student as current as possible with classroom instruction.

To learn more about the home instruction application process, please contact our K-12 Coordinator of Instructional Supports, Leslie Christofano.
