The Springboro Robotics FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) Challenge team (grades 4–8), known as "The Winners," recently embarked on an exciting journey. They had the privilege of visiting the First Flight Aviation flight school near the Dayton Wright Brothers Airport, where they presented their innovation idea to an experienced pilot and received valuable feedback.
This year, the FLL innovation project focuses on challenges faced by people who explore the oceans. The team investigated the impact of disabilities on youth sports involvement and extended their research to address specific issues faced by ocean explorers and underwater divers.
The team designed an innovation project aimed at helping ocean explorers and divers keep critical tasks and checklists close at hand. During their research on ocean exploration, they discovered that both divers and pilots often rely on detailed task lists and checklists to ensure missions are completed safely and accurately. However, managing these tools can be challenging in underwater environments or busy control rooms.
To address this problem, the team developed a tool to help ocean explorers stay organized and complete their tasks with ease - similar to a quarterback’s wristband, but specifically designed for low visibility and underwater use and other ocean-related jobs.
