PreSchool Update 2020-2021 School Year

Given the uncertainty surrounding the start of this upcoming school year, based on State and Health Dept. guidelines with COVID-19, we wanted to update you on the status of preschool within Springboro Schools, at this time.
Preschool requires different licensing through the Ohio Department of Education (ODE).  ODE works in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Jobs & Family Services (ODJFS), which serves daycares and preschool education. The district's PreSchool licensing is derived from the Procedures for preschool will be in accordance with ODE and ODJFS.

ODE has advised public preschools to follow ODJFS guidance on limited capacity on the number of students permitted in one classroom. Meaning, as it stands right now, Clearcreek Elementary would only be allowed a certain limited number of students in one classroom. The Springboro Community Schools’ preschool program was developed to serve children 3-5 years of age with a wide variety of disabilities qualifying for special education services in response to a federal mandate. Our program model includes children with typical development, in order to provide for a more appropriate and enriching learning environment and experience.

However, at this time we are not able to offer preschool to our typically developing students who pay tuition and will only be providing services to those identified students with special needs. For those of you who have paid the registration fee and supply fee of $120, our treasurer’s office will be issuing you a refund after July 6, 2020. We will be revisiting bringing our tuition-paying students back the second semester based on the guidance of the ODE and ODJFS. Your child will still hold the spot they received through the prioritized sibling or lottery. We will be in contact in late fall to share updated preschool information.
