4-H Student

Last week, several Springboro Schools’ students competed in 4-H at the Warren County Fair. Community members from around the area were invited to attend the annual week-long event (a tradition dating back to 1850!), to enjoy shows, 4-H exhibits, rides, music, and more!

Stephanie Jordan, Social Studies Teacher at Springboro Junior High and 4-H Advisor, shared several student success stories from last week’s 4-H competition. Aubree, an incoming 6th grader at Springboro Intermediate (SI), placed first on her forceless horse project and third for her showmanship on a mini donkey that’s 23-years old and named, “Lumpy.”

Elam, another incoming 6th grader at SI, also competed at the Warren County Fair. Elam placed first in two food and nutrition projects, earning a Division Championship. Elam competed with his dog “Roxy” in the dog show earning a second place, two fourth places, and a fifth. In addition, Elam also earned a fifth place in lamb livestock interviews, as well as a fifth and a second place in market feeder beef and a fifth in beef showmanship.

An incoming 4th grader from Five Points Elementary, Grady placed 4th out of 10 horses in his showmanship class. This was Grady’s first year showing at the Warren County Fair. Grady took his 7-year old miniature horse.
