District Statement: New Springboro Junior High Interim Principal

Maureen Ruether

Springboro Schools is proud to announce Maureen Ruether as the new Springboro Junior High School (SJHS) Interim Principal, pending Board of Education approval on January 12, 2022. Mrs. Ruether, who is the district’s current Secondary Curriculum Coordinator and Grade 3-12 Testing Coordinator, will oversee SJHS, a 7-8 grade building within Springboro Schools beginning at the start of second semester, when students return from winter break. Current SJHS Principal Dave Slamer has resigned to pursue other career interests outside of Springboro Schools. Heather Pinto will remain the Assistant Principal at SJHS.

Ruether’s current contract will be amended to Interim Principal of Springboro Junior High, pending Board of Education approval. Prior to joining Springboro Schools in 2019 as the district’s Secondary Curriculum Coordinator, Mrs. Ruether served four (4) years as the Edgewood Middle School Assistant Principal, serving students in grades 6-8. There, Mrs. Ruether collaborated with teachers on a school wide PBIS program, developed career educational programing in conjunction with Butler Tech, initiated a transition program for special education students, and supported staff in the development of measurable student goals and targets to guide instruction.

"I am excited and honored to be able to serve as Interim Principal of Springboro Junior High, said Maureen Ruether. “Working alongside this amazing faculty and staff will allow us to collaborate effectively and continue to strive for excellence together.”

Prior to her role as Assistant Principal of Edgewood Middle School, Mrs. Ruether served in the Northwest Local School District: two (2) years as Assistant Principal of Colerain Middle School (2013-2015), and five (5) years as an 8th Grade Teacher for Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies.

“Mrs. Ruether’s passion for education and the Springboro community is sincere,” said Superintendent Larry Hook. “Her interest and focus on developing each student as a whole person is commendable, as is her willingness to work together with staff. Maureen will continue to bring out the best in Springboro Schools.”

Mrs. Ruether has a Bachelor’s in Public Relations from Xavier University (’94), a Bachelor of Education from Northern Kentucky University (’97), as well as her Masters of Educational Leadership from Xavier University (’11).
