Students Raise $2,800 to Support Cancer Patients
Pink Ribbon Good Check Presentation
A pair of 4th grade students, along with two (2) Springboro Schools’ teachers, have raised over $2,800 to support cancer patients. Five Points Elementary students Haddie Gill and Aubrey Thompson partnered with 4th grade teachers Amy Pelletier and Zara Rogers to create “H & A Designs,” a project specifically created to raise money for Pink Ribbon Good (PRG), a nonprofit organization that provides support for breast and gynecological cancer patients and their families, independent of age, stage or socio-economic status and free of charge.

Ms. Pelletier and Ms. Rogers first began working on a Genius Hour Project in their classrooms, which is a concept that allows students to explore their own passions to encourage creativity in the classroom. After learning about Breast Cancer through this project, Haddie and Aubrey wanted to start raising money to support PRG. With the help of additional colleagues and students, the 4th grade duo, Ms. Pelletier, and Ms. Rogers established an opportunity to make and sell jewelry, along with other accessories. All proceeds from “H & A Designs” (H - Hallie and A - Aubrey) go towards benefiting the mission of Pink Ribbon Good.

A check presentation was held Wednesday, May 24 at Five Points Elementary, where "H & A Designs" presented a $2,800 check to Pink Ribbon Good.

“H & A Designs” created their own
website and set out with an initial goal of raising $550. The group far exceeded their goal after selling their products at Five Points Elementary’s “Denim and Diamonds” school dance, which garnered tremendous support from the Springboro Schools’ community. The team of “H & A Designs” will continue to make and sell their products via their website, as well as at school, hoping to increase their total contribution to cancer patients and their families.
