Updated COVID-19 Guidance: Warren County Health District
Springboro Logo
The Warren County Health District (WCHD), in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), released new guidance. Effective immediately, ODH has rescinded its order requiring contact tracing in all schools in Ohio. Additionally, schools will now only be required to report positive numbers to Local Health Districts on a weekly basis. This is a huge benefit for not only Springboro Schools, but all schools throughout the State of Ohio. We feel very fortunate to have been able to work with Governor DeWine, Dr. Vanderhoff, ODH, and WCHD to help guide some of the important decision making at the state level, which will provide all schools immediate and necessary relief.

What does this mean for Springboro Schools? With contact tracing no longer required, this benefits our district and building staff who were tasked with what was quickly becoming an impossible challenge, given the number of hours contact tracing required day-in and day-out.

This does not mean our district will stop reporting positive cases. We will continue to report our positive cases to WCHD on a weekly basis, as was determined by both ODH and WCHD. In accordance with the latest WCHD guidance, our daily building notification emails will instead be posted to our COVID-19 dashboard, which will be updated daily on our COVID-19 Updates page beginning Monday, Jan. 31.

In addition, the Mask to Stay/Test to Play protocols were also updated, under the new WCHD guidance, to now be utilized for direct contacts coming from any type of exposure, whether in-school or community. Mask to Stay/Test to Play now applies to any student/staff, regardless of vaccination status.

We, along with WCHD, continue to strongly recommend the importance of vaccinations and boosters for those families who choose to do so, as well as mask wearing if exposed. Please remember, if you are sick, test positive, or are showing symptoms of COVID-19, PLEASE STAY HOME. Do not report to school if this scenario applies to you or your family.

Any calls with COVID-19 questions related to your student or to report a positive COVID-19 case should be made to our COVID-19 Call Team at 937-557-1950. The office hours for the COVID-19 Call Team are Monday - Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm.

Thank you again for your continued commitment in helping keep our students, teachers, and staff safe.
