Celebrate National Library Week and School Library Month!

The week of April 8-14 is National Library Week.  This year is the 60th Anniversary of the celebration, which is sponsored by the American Library Association. Misty Copeland serves as the 2018 Honorary Chair.  No longer just a place for books, school libraries and librarians are helping students make sense of the technology-driven world that surrounds us. Celebrate the valuable contributions of our nation's school libraries and librarians this week.

This month is also National School Library Week and is sponsored by the American Association of School Librarians, which is a division of the American Library Association.  This year's honorary chair is Jason Reynold, award-winning Young Adult author.  He has recorded a Public Service Announcement for this campaign.

School librarians are helping students make sense of the technology-driven world that surrounds us. From technology classes to virtual homework help, school librarians play a critical role in teaching 21st century skills. Celebrate the valuable contributions of our nation's school libraries and librarians this April during School Library Month.  Visit Miss Thornbery's, (JH Teacher-Librarian) website (www.borolibrary.org) for more information about our library.
