School Closing Information

We understand that our decision to open, close, or delay schools for inclement weather has a big impact on families. We also understand that our students are better served by being in school. As always, our top priority is the safety of our students and staff.

We use the following avenues to notify our families and the public:

Several years ago, the state moved from a specific number of “calamity days” afforded to schools to a minimum number of “instructional hours” required by schools. 

Springboro Schools proudly operates well above the required minimum number of instructional hours. The district closely tracks these numbers year-round to accurately monitor each school’s status.

As of February 3, 2026, even with recent closures, all schools and grade levels in the district remain above the required minimum number of instructional hours. This means remote instruction (virtual) and/or in-person make-up days are not currently being discussed. They would be considered only if instructional hours fall below the required state minimum.

The district will continue to share updates if significant additional closures cause this status to change.
