School Counselors Visit All 7th and 8th Grade Classrooms

Over the course of the last three weeks, the school counselors visited all 7th and 8th grade social studies classrooms to explore stress and anxiety management with students. Students discussed potential causes of stress and anxiety and many different coping strategies for managing them. The coping skills discussed included physical activity, mindfulness, guided relaxation, visualization, yoga, breathing exercises, and more. The students were actively engaged in practicing some of the new strategies. Please be sure to engage your child in a discussion about what they learned and try one of these new strategies together. In addition, they worked on positive thoughts and being kind to ourselves and others. The students completed an "I am" activity to recognize one of the qualities that they are very proud of. These will be laminated and hung on their lockers to recognize the many wonderful qualities all of the students possess that contribute to making Springboro Junior High a great place to learn!
