Charles Anderson Resigns from Board of Education

Charles Anderson will resign from the Board of Education at Springboro Schools effective July 31, 2022, citing retirement and the relocation outside of Springboro, Ohio. Mr. Anderson was currently serving into his fourth term as a member of Springboro Schools’ Board of Education, having most recently been re-elected in November 2021.

“It has been a privilege and my honor to serve on the Board of Education into my fourth term,” said Mr. Anderson in his letter of resignation to the Board. “I have always enjoyed my time on the Board, and I hope that I have made a difference for Springboro students.”

While serving on the district’s Board of Education, Mr. Anderson saw the passing of two levies with no increase in taxes for the community. First, in Nov. 2017 a continuing substitute 7.4-mill levy was passed, which helped raise roughly $7.9 million to keep up with growing student populations. Most recently, in May 2021, Mr. Anderson served on the Board for the passing of a permanent improvement (PI) levy that saw a voter approval of nearly 70% adding a new additional 2-mill levy that generates roughly $3 million a year for permanent improvements to school facilities.

In 2018, during Mr. Anderson’s third term on the board, the Ohio Department of Education’s State Board awarded Clearcreek Elementary and Springboro Intermediate with an “Overall A” award demonstrating high academic performance with an overall grade of “A” on the state report card. Just this year, the Board of Education approved a new district-wide Strategic Plan focusing on graduation readiness, innovative educational experiences, staff support, safety and security, as well as financial investment in the continued success of Springboro students.

“Thank you, Charles, for everything you have done for our schools,” said Terrah Stacy, Treasurer/CFO for Springboro Schools. “We are in a much better place than ever before, and a large part of that is due to your continued support and service to the students, staff, and community. You will truly be missed.”

The Board of Education will seek to appoint a replacement to fill Mr. Anderson’s seat. Interested candidates should visit the Board of Education Page on www.springboro.org to learn more about the application process. The deadline to apply is Friday, August 5, 2022 by 4:00pm.

Mr. Anderson closed his letter to the Board by stating, “After all my years on the Board, I feel as though we have the best of administrators, teachers, support staff and Board members of any school system in our area. I wish everyone the best in the years ahead, as there is still more to do for the benefit of these students.”
