Dennis Elementary was announced for a renewal of the Ohio Dept. of Education & Workforce's (ODEW) Purple Star Award. The Board of Education recognized Dennis Elementary at their May 21 meeting. The Springboro High School (SHS) JROTC was on-hand to present the colors and lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Purple Star designation recognizes schools that demonstrate a major commitment to serving students and families connected to the United States Armed Forces. All six (6) schools in district have received the Purple Star designation, making Springboro Schools a Purple Star District with the State of Ohio.
Dennis Elementary was initially announced as a Purple Star school in 2021. The designation lasts three (3) years, at which time, a school must re-apply with ODEW.
