HS Students Represent Warren County in Area IV Envirothon

HS Students - Envirothon

Students from Springboro High School and Franklin High School participated in the Area IV (southwest Ohio regional) Envirothon at Camp Friedlander in Loveland, OH.

Envirothon is an outdoor, academic, environmental competition for high school students that tests students’ knowledge of aquatic ecology, forestry, soil and land use, wildlife, and a current environmental issue (CEI). This competition was hosted by Warren County and Clermont County Soil & Water Conservation Districts and welcomed over 40 teams to participate.

Three teams from Springboro High School and one team from Franklin High School represented Warren County, excelling in this year’s CEI topic, “Adapting to a Changing Climate.” Final competition scores are available here.

“Participating in Envirothon takes a great deal of hard work and determination. We’re proud of the students that represented Warren County so exceptionally and the teachers that helped prepare them for the competition,” said Molly Conley, Warren County Soil & Water Conservation District Director.

The Envirothon program started in 1979 to encourage high school students to become interested in natural resource conservation, environmental issues, and careers in environmental fields. In 1988 the National Envirothon was born with competing teams from Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Massachusetts.

Today, all states have Envirothon programs and over 25,000 high school students worldwide participate each year.
