2019-20 Scheduling Information

On Tuesday, March 5, Junior High school counselors visited Springboro Intermediate to provide information to sixth grade students on course scheduling for their 2019-20 school year. These students were given course requests forms for next year. Current seventh grade students were given these course requests forms on March 7. The course request forms are due for all students on  Tuesday, March 12. For more information, please visit the SJHS School Counselors webpage:

  • Students select electives that equal a combination of 2 periods per school day for the entire year. Elective courses range in course length from one quarter to yearlong. Students are placed in specific levels of core courses - English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies - based on nationally-normed assessment results.

  • If a student plans to take (1) a Band, Strings, or Choir course for the entire year in 7th AND 8th grade; and (2) a foreign language course, students must take their elective requirements - Health, Physical Education, and Careers and Consumer Concepts - in 7th grade so that the foreign language course can be taken in 8th grade.
  • Foreign Language courses count towards high school credit and high school Grade Point Average. Semester exams count for 20% of student's final grades each semester.
  • Participation in school-sponsored athletics is guided by an eligibility policy.  This eligibility policy is different for students taking 5 classes versus that of 6 classes and can be found on the last page of the Elective Program of Studies found above.
