  • Number of Classes: Springboro Junior High School students take six (6) classes per day. The bell schedule used at the Junior High is the same as that at Springboro Intermediate.

  • Core Class Placement: Students are placed in specific levels of core academic courses - English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies - based on nationally-normed assessment results (IOWA & CogAT).

  • Elective Course Selection: Students select electives that equal a combination of 2 periods per school day for the entire year. Elective courses range in course length: (1) one quarter; (2) one semester; (3) 3/4's year; & (4) yearlong.

  • STEM-based Project Lead the Way (PLTW): Springboro Junior High School is offering 9 different Project Lead the Way courses for the 2022-23 school year.  Take a look at the link below to see all the authentic, engaging projects that Project Lead the Way students experience!
  • Band/Strings/Choir AND International Languages: If a student plans to take: (1) a Band, Strings, or Choir course for the entire year in 7th and 8th grade; AND (2) an International Language course in junior high, students must take their other elective requirements - (1) Health, (2) Physical Education, and (3) Careers and Consumer Concepts - in 7th grade in order to take the International Language course in 8th grade. In other words, (1) students cannot take two years of Bands, Strings, or Choir AND two years of an International Language course while at the Junior High, as International Language courses must be taken in consecutive years.  The above scenario, allows the student to take an International Language course in 8th grade and continue on at the high school without any gaps.
  • International Language Courses and High School Credit: International Language courses count towards students' high school credit and high school Grade Point Average (GPA). Grading - Each nine-week (quarter) grade is valued at 40% of the final semester grade with the semester exam valued at 20%.

  • Athletic Eligibility: Participation in school-sponsored athletics is guided by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) eligibility policy.  This eligibility policy can be found on the last page of the Elective Program of Studies document linked above.
In accordance with State and Federal law, Springboro Community City Schools will provide reasonable accommodations to persons with disabilities who wish to attend and/or participate in school events. Such individuals should notify the Superintendent if they require a reasonable accommodation.
