School Closing Information

We understand that our decision to open or close schools in bad weather has a big effect on families. We also understand that our students are better served by being in school. As always, our top priority is the safety of our students.

HOW DO WE MAKE OUR DECISION?
We make the decision to open or close school in bad weather based on a careful analysis of all relevant factors, such as:

  • Information on road conditions from transportation staff and police, with careful consideration to the most dangerous roads in our district
  • Amount of snow and ice accumulated
  • Whether precipitation is continuing
  • Parking lot conditions
  • Temperature and wind chill
  • Building conditions (such as whether we have electricity and heat)
  • Weather forecast

HOW IS THE PUBLIC NOTIFIED?
We use the following avenues to notify our families and the public:

  • A One Call voice message
  • An email to to those on our distribution list
  • Our website and Facebook page
  • All local TV and radio stations
